Russ Cowan

Russ Cowan, Bookkeeper, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resource Sciences at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. He followed that up shortly with a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting at Doane College in Lincoln.



Russ found his love of accounting in 5 years at H&R Block. This encouraged him to pursue an accounting degree. During and after his time at Doane College he worked at Dana F. Cole Public Accounting firm for approximately 2 years. He then decided to switch to private accounting, and became the Accounting Manager for a real estate company in Lincoln. Russ was asked to take over operations after 2.5 year in the accounting department and worked there through January 2009.



In October 2007 Russ created Money Smarts Incorporated based on the idea of counseling individuals on how to recover from bankruptcy. In December of 2007 he opened the doors to bookkeeping. He is now building his business through Southeast Community College Entrepreneurship center.



Money Smarts Inc., contracts with Arts Incorporated to provide bookkeeping and accounting services to all of the Arts Inc organizations. Russ works about 10 to 15 hours per week and can be reached at russell@artsincorporated.org.
